Healthy Bottoms Diaper
Diapers are basic human needs, like food and shelter, and these needs are not being met for all children.
Healthy Bottoms Diaper Bank is the first of its kind in mid-Missouri and is designed to assist qualifying families with a supplemental supply of diapers free of charge.
By supplying diapers to those in need, babies remain dry, healthy and happy.
Our agency provides diapers to local social service organizations that are already helping families in need through comprehensive programs and services. To us, a lack of diapers is a symptom of a larger issue of poverty or crisis and our partner agencies provide a level of case management to individuals and families so they can work towards self-sufficiency for the long-term.
A few of the staggering statistics behind #diaperneed
1 in 3 American families report experiencing diaper need.
No state or federal safety-net program allocates dollars specifically for the purchase of diapers. WIC and food stamps cannot be used to purchase diapers.
Many families in need are working parents but a low-income job doesn't cover basic needs.
Without an adequate supply of diapers, babies cannot participate in child care. Without childcare parents cannot work.
Babies need an average of 8 to 10 diapers a day which could cost over $100 per month.
There are physical consequences to leaving children in soiled diapers too long, including chronic diaper rash and urinary tract infections.
Caregivers who cannot provide an adequate supply of diapers to keep their children clean and dry report higher levels of stress and depression than those who can meet their children’s diaper needs.
